About Hamta pass trek
Hampta Pass is a unique crossover trek connecting the green Kullu Valley to the barren landscapes of Lahaul. The trek offers riverside camps, alpine meadows, glacier sections, and a thrilling high-altitude pass crossing, making it one of the most diverse and beginner-friendly Himalayan treks.
Itinerary
• Drive from Manali to Jobra (~22 km)
• Trek to Chikka (~3 km, 3 hrs)
• Walk through pine forests, river crossings & meadows
• Riverside campsite experience
• Trek through wide valleys & rocky trails (~7 km, 5–6 hrs)
• Scenic river streams and open landscapes
• Overnight stay at Balu Ka Ghera campsite
• Early morning summit push
• Cross Hampta Pass (14,010 ft.)
• Snow climbs & glacier sections
• Descend into dramatic Lahaul valley
• Overnight stay at Shea Goru
• Descend through rugged terrain
• Drive to Chandratal Lake (weather permitting)
• Return to Chhatru campsite
• Scenic drive back to Manali
• Cross the iconic Atal Tunnel
• Reach Manali by afternoon (trip ends)
